Hi, I Am Olivia V. G. Clarke
...a student, leader, and activist in diversity work.
I served as a leader on my school’s Diversity Executive Board and also handled outreach and marketing for the Diversity Club where we hosted 20-minute weekly diversity lessons.
I have helped plan two diversity conferences as well as lead student-run faculty development activities.
In addition to being a member of multiple cultural clubs, I was also the President of Dance Club where I've partnered with cultural clubs to present education in a fun and active way.
I am a part of the 2019 & 2020 class of Black Girls Lead Conference created by Black Girls Rock founder Beverly Bond.
I am a multi-year full scholarship attendee of the Humanities and Cognitive Sciences Summer Institute at The Ohio State University.
I was also selected as part of a four-student full scholarship group to attend the 2018 Student Diversity Leadership Conference, a multicultural conference for high school student leaders in diversity.
I also served on the 2017/2018 Franklin County Youth Council that advocates for youth needs in Franklin County and was a QuestBridge Scholar.
This summer I'm studying Korean in Seoul, South Koreea as a 2021 Finalist of the NSLI-Y Summer Intensive Program through the United States State Department.
But hey, I'm still a regular 17-year-old incoming freshman at the University of Southern California.
I like to hang out with my friends, dance, binge watch K-Dramas, eat potatoes, listen to all kinds of music. And ducks. I love ducks.

What I believe...
I believe the first step to cultural appreciation and understanding begins with education and exposure.
If we begin to teach young children about diverse cultures outside of their own we can prevent having to combat bigotry and ignorance with education later in life.
Children are a lot smarter than our society gives them credit for.
Young people have the ability to create change and impact the world around them in a positive way.
We have the power to create a more accepting, understanding, and appreciative world.
